Bellis bellissima is a new strain of bellis daisies. Unlike traditional varieties which require a period of cold weather to initiate the flowers, Bellis Bellissima plug plants have no need for a vernalisation period. This means that you will get a mixture of single and large double ‘pom pom’ flowers in both autumn and spring. Really colourful, compact and easy to grow plants, great for patio pots, hanging baskets, beds & borders.
PLEASE NOTE - flowering times will vary depending on the time they are planted. For autumn flowering you will need to plant these in either grower cell trays or small grower pots for around 4 weeks to allow for root establishment and then they will be ready for you to put in their final place. If you buy these from mid September onwards ready for spring flowering these need to be grown on in grower cell trays or pots throughout the winter before planting in their final place early spring, they should be left outside to harden them off throughout the winter months. Here is an idea of when they will then begin to flower for you (it is possible not all will flower straight away) -
If planting early August flowering time will be early September
If planting Mid August flowering time will be late September
If planting late August flowering time will be early October
If planting early September flowering time will be late October
If planting early October flowering time will be early Spring
If planting late October onwards flowering time will be late Spring.
Due to their hardy nature these will flower again in the following autumn as long as they are looked after during the summer months.
