Our Stunning Red Tasso Bellis is a compact plant with dark foliage and pom pom like double flowers is sure to create a wonderful display in you garden borders or containers. With heights up to 15cms the compact Bellis is a lovely addition to your autumn and winter display.

PLEASE NOTE - flowering times will vary depending on the time they are planted. For autumn flowering you will need to plant these in either grower cell trays or small grower pots for around 4 weeks to allow for root establishment and then they will be ready for you to put in their final place. If you buy these from mid September onwards ready for spring flowering these need to be grown on in grower cell trays or pots throughout the winter before planting in their final place early spring, they should be left outside to harden them off throughout the winter months.  Here is an idea of when they will then begin to flower for you (it is possible not all will flower straight away) -

If planting early August flowering time will be early September

If planting Mid August flowering time will be late September

If planting late August flowering time will be early October

If planting early September flowering time will be late October

If planting early October flowering time will be early Spring

If planting late October onwards flowering time will be late Spring.

Due to their hardy nature these will flower again in the following autumn as long as they are looked after during the summer months.

Bellis Daisies.

Bellis daises prefer temperatures to be milder, making them a great choice for your autumn and winter bedding plants. These will flower from late winter through summer and Autumn if cared for correctly. If these are purchased late autumn they will flower at first in spring and will flower again the following autumn and winter.

Here are a few tips in helping them to flower for longer and produce great healthy flowers

  • When you receive your plants make sure you’ve grown them on in suitable pots or cell trays with good quality compost to help the roots mature before planting them in their final growing position. We use 10cm grower pots or 6 cell grower trays here in our nursery to grow these on. The best way to know these are ready is when the roots are touching the sides of the cells or pot.
  • Bellis daises prefer full sunshine but they can cope with partially shaded postions.
  • Try and plant your plants around 10cms apart keeping the base of the stem at soil level. Once planted make sure you use a good feed to encourage the best growth and flowering. We recommend Neudorff Organic Multi Purpose Plant Feed, great for encouraging bigger blooms and longer lasting flowers and also pet and child safe.
  • Careful attention to the pruning of these will help them grow for longer, when the flower starts to fade then take the head off to encourage more flowering - when the winter is over and the flowers start to fade fully cut back for foliage throughout the spring and summer and if cared for properly through these months flowers should come again for the second year.
