The ‘Bishop’ range of Dahlias grow from tubers that can be lifted, after the first frosts have blackened the leaves, to regrow again the following spring.  Leave the tubers to dry and then shake off the excess old soil.  Store them in newspaper or dry used compost and protect them from frost.  Check them during the winter months for any deterioration and remove affected parts or damage by mice.  Repot in early spring in fresh compost and make sure slugs are kept at bay whilst the new shoots come through.  Once the frosts have passed the plants can be popped outside again.

Special requirements – Tie in the main stem of each Dahlia regularly to the stake. This will keep the growth upright and prevent any wind damage that could snap the stems.
