Contrasts beautifully with evergreen ferns and other woodland plants, and will be equally effective grown in a pot in covered areas and pergolas. Dryopteris erythrosora will thrive in any partial shade situation and does really well in moist heavy soils. Garden care: Incorporate lots of well-rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles or garden compost into the planting hole. Our premium perennials are supplied as Jumbo plugs. These plants would benefit from potting into large pots (13cm upwards) for a few weeks before planting out in the garden. Tender varieties will need protecting from frost. Compost volume around 5cm deep x 5cm square. Foliage height 5cm-20cm (depending on variety). Full growing instructions are provided.
Perennial plants come in hundreds, if not thousands, of varying shapes, sizes and colours and if you are like me, you will always find room for one more in your garden! They are reliable, hardy plants that breathe life into beds and borders from late spring to late autumn and beyond. These plants are also very attractive to pollinating bees, butterflies and beneficial insects.
*With a little planning you can have perennial plants in flower for several months of the year - almost all year round in milder areas.
