Looking like a pagoda, also known as dog’s tooth violet ‘Pagoda’, this beautiful plant is a must for all spring bulb enthusiasts. They are not true violets – the common name refers to the shape of the bulbs.
Erythronium ‘Pagoda’ flowers from March-April up to height of around 15-30cms and once it has found a liking to its growing spot will increase quickly and spread to form a wonderful carpet of colour and leaf.
The nodding star-shaped reflexed petals are a rich yellow shade with deep yellow anthers and when young the inner petals are marked with a brown central ring. The showy rich green leaves are attractively marbled. Each stem can have up to 10 flowers which attract pollinating bees.
