How to Grow Tomato Gardeners Delight | Tips & Advice

Tomato Gardeners Delight plants produce a heavy crop of small fruit with a good flavour.

Where & When to Grow
Tomato Gardeners Delight can be grown outdoors in a sheltered spot with rich, well drained soil, or a 9” pot or a gro-bag. Plant out Tomato Gardeners Delight plants after all risk of frost has passed and when first flowers are showing. Alternatively an earlier planting in a heated greenhouse can extend the growing season.

How to Grow
Plants are grown up a single upright stem supported by a cane. All side shoots between leaf stalks and main stem are removed. The growing tip is pinched out after four flower trusses have developed, this ensures that all fruit grows and ripens.

Watering & Feeding
Gardeners Delight Tomato Plants must be watered regularly so that soil is kept moist but not flooded. Feed regularly with a tomato fertiliser following instructions.

Harvesting
There’s nothing like the taste of vine ripened tomatoes. For optimum flavour, pick either at or just before the height of redness – the fruit of some varieties will tend to crack at the point of maximum ripeness. Store on a windowsill or kitchen counter. Storage in the fridge will reduce flavour and cause the texture of the fruit to become mushy.
