Pot Ready, Large, Healthy plants individually rooted in large plugs of compost. Ideal for planting into baskets, containers or small areas in the garden. Best results achieved if grown on for a short while in 9cm/10cm pots prior to planting out if planting straight into garden borders. Tender varieties will need protecting from frost. Compost volume around 4-5cm deep x 3-4cm square. Foliage height 5cm-12cm (depending on variety). Full growing instructions are provided.
Delphiniums, Digitalis and Lupins are quintessential cottage garden plants reaching up to heady heights of around 50-60cms (depending on the variety) and are more columnar than widely spreading, so they work really well planted towards the back of the border to set off other mid-size plants. They also make eye-catching cut flowers for arrangements and displays.
Special requirements - Slugs love to munch on emerging young shoots of Delphiniums and Lupins. If you can deter them without the use of slug pellets, all the better, but if you have to, sprinkle pellets around the base of the plants. You will need to reapply after rainfall.
As most of our varieties are tall, they will probably need staking and tying in as they grow during the season so that any windy weather doesn’t blow them over.
