Can be sown direct outdoors from late May in an area that is rich in humus and is well drained. Dig a big hole approx. 30cm x 30cm and fill it with a mixture of compost, well-rotted manure and soil leaving a low mound at the top. Place two seeds, on their sides, approx. 4cms apart 3cms deep and once germination has taken place, thin out the weakest germinated seed to leave one strong seedling. Space each seed station approx. 2m apart as this variety needs plenty of room to grow.
Indoor sowings can be made from late April to be planted out after the last frost.
