Swedes are hardy winter root vegetables, are easy to grow and our selection of Swede Ruby has all the best attributes of a swede and was given the RHS Award of Garden Merit, having good resistance to powdery mildew.
With an extra sweet taste, ruby red skin colour and globe shaped roots with a creamy-yellow flesh, this swede cooks really well too and can be boiled or roasted or added to soups and stews.
In Scotland, swedes are known as Neeps and are a traditional accompaniment to Haggis on Burns Night.

For orders containing seed only, we make a one-off Postage and Packing charge of £0.95 for the entire order. If you order other items as well as seeds the maximum postage and packing charge will be £3.95 per order. Delivery is free for all orders over £40 in value.

We normally dispatch orders containing seed only within 2-3 working days of ordering.

Seed only orders are dispatched via Royal Mail 2nd Class post.

If your order contains a mixture of seed and other items we will normally dispatch the seeds separately via Royal Mail 2nd Class post within 2-3 working days and the remaining items will be dispatched according to their individual delivery times.

 

Sow the seeds thinly 2cms deep and in rows 40 cms apart where they are to grow from May or June, thinning until plants are around 25cms apart. Swede Ruby just requires regular watering to avoid splitting and irregular growth and by Sept/Oct small roots should be ready for eating.
Left to mature, swedes can be harvested as required up to January/February

Normally dispatch your bulbs within three working days of ordering. Delivery is normally made within 4-6 working days of ordering. The delivery method (usually Royal Mail or Parcelforce) will be displayed in the shopping basket.
