Turnips are fast growing, high in fibre, root vegetables and the earlier they are sown in the season, the better, as they are not keen on hot weather in their early stages of growth and can easily bolt if not sown until May or June. Turnip Snowball is a pure white, round vegetable and as with all turnips, tastes at its best when pulled young and tender.
It can be used raw, grated onto salads or cooked in stir-fries as well as normal uses.
**Brookside Nursery Top Tip - Turnips are part of the brassicae group so will need to be rotated in the vegetable plot each season.

Harvest early crops when the turnips are about 7cms in diameter.
