Size guide - Pack of 5 Herb Plug Plants

Our herb plugs are securely rooted, healthy plugs that would benefit from being grown on in 9/10cm pots for a few weeks before planting out in herb gardens, containers or hanging baskets. Tender varieties will need protecting from frost. Compost volume around 2.5 – 3cm deep x 3.2cm square. Foliage height 1.5cm – 5cm (depending on variety). Full growing instructions are provided.

General Growing Advice

Using a good quality multi-purpose compost, pot up your plugs into 10cm pots.  Once your plug plants have been potted on and labelled, water them in well and grow on for around 5-6 weeks.  Water once the compost starts to dry out but remember.

If preferred you can pot on the plugs into hanging baskets, flower bags or pots. Add a slow release plant food like Miracle-Gro Slow Release All Purpose Plant Food  to your compost which will give extra nutrients for strong and healthy plant growth.

Keep plants frost free until mid/late May and then harden off before being placed in their final positions when the risk of frost has passed in your area.

Water as necessary giving a liquid feed such as Neudorff Organic Plant Feed as instructed throughout the growing season.

***For packs of 40 plug plants gently remove the small plugs from the tray by pushing up from the bottom using a pencil.

These herbs are so easy to grow and as they are perennial, will die down in the winter months and re-appear next spring. Pot them on as for the annual herbs and then plant into pots or the garden.

Excellent for ground cover or lining walkways, paths, as well as in borders and containers.

Looking Good
Tuesday, 18 May 2021  |

These looked very healthy on arrival and have since rooted well into my hanger.
The only change I would request is a wee care note for what to do when they arrive and what to do if they can't be planted straight away.
Excellent wee shop, and have bookmarked the site for future orders.

Alpine strawberry plants

Excellent service via keeping me up to date on the despatch and delivery. Also a fair price. One of the plants was a bit squashed in the packaging and didn't survive despite my trying. Three of them look healthy and I have another that's not doing well.

Wild strawberry plants
Tuesday, 11 May 2021  |

Having purchased 15 of these plants, I was pleased that most of them survived their journey to me. They arrived promptly , when I was expecting them. All of them were planted straight out, but protected from frost.
Of the 15 only three of the plants were under par, and of those three, only two look like they will not survive - so not bad.
I look forward to seeing how robust the rest of the plants are in the coming weeks.

I am a bit dismayed at the size of the plug plants - they are SO tiny.
I think half of them will not grow / survive.

Rather small

These plugs are really tiny. Two of the five don't look as though they are growing at all and might not make it. I potted them up immediately they came. A bit disappointing.

Top quality plug plants
Thursday, 13 August 2020  |

Supplied as medium plug plants, they were strong healthy plants with a good top growth and root system. I planted them on for 2 weeks before putting them in large tubs using a good compost mixed with perlite and vermiculite. They have been outside now for a month and all plugs are growing very well. Top quality plants, arrived the day after they were despatched, very well packaged.
