Size guide - Pack of 350 Plug Plants

The most economical way to purchase your plants. Securely rooted, strong plants in mini-plugs of compost. Will need to be transplanted and grown on before planting out ready to flower. Tender varieties will need protecting from frost. Compost volume around 2.3cm deep x 1.3cm square. Foliage height 1.5cm-5cm (depending on variety). Full growing instructions are provided.

Using a good quality multi-purpose compost, pot up your plugs into 10cm pots or 6 cell trays. Once your plug plants have been potted on and labelled, water them in well and grow on for around 5-6 weeks.  Water once the compost starts to dry out.

Keep plants frost free until mid/late May and then harden off before being placed in their final positions when the risk of frost has passed in your area.

Water as necessary giving a liquid feed such as Neudorff Organic Plant Feed as instructed throughout the growing season.

Brookside Nursery Advice to help you get the best from your Antirrhinum Sonnet Mixed plants.

Antirrhinums are pretty, summer additions to any border or container and need minimum care for maximum enjoyment with the bonus that they are generally pest and disease free.

Once ready to plant outside, choose a site in full sun or some light shade with soil that is fertile and well-drained and space plants around 12" (30cm) apart to give them room to grow without being overcrowded. Water in well and keep moderately watered for the first few weeks until established.

Use a liquid feed occasionally throughout the growing season to give flower production a boost and remove faded flowers as necessary.

Antirrhinums are classed as short-lived perennials, so if you allow some flowering stalks to produce seeds you may find that they will seed themselves about and generate new plants the following year.
