Using gloves, plant the bulbs pointy side up at a depth of 15cms and spaced 10-15cms apart.
If you are leaving them in the ground year round, planting deeply will ensure they are not too disturbed when planting other items.
If your soil is on the heavy side, incorporate some sharp grit to the mix.
Place the bulbs in groups (3’s, 5’s or 7’s) rather than singly dotted around the garden as this will enhance the heady fragrance once the blooms are fully open.
After you have planted the bulbs and covered them with earth, give them an extra layer of organic mulch or rotted leaf mould.
Once the flowers have faded in spring, cut back the flower stalks but allow the leaves to die back naturally.
