Lemon Balm, Melissa officinalis, is a bushy, herbaceous perennial with lemon-scented leaves that is often grown in cottage garden flower beds as well as in herb patches. The tiny white flowers grow on two small spikes and these attract a myriad of pollinating bees. Like most herbs, balm has a long history of medicinal use dating back some 2000 years and the genus name Melissa is derived from the Greek word for bee. The young leaves chopped onto fruit salads give a zesty flavour or steeped in hot water make a refreshing herb tea. Height & Spread 50 x 40 cm

Size guide - Pack of 5 Large Plug Plants
Pot Ready, Large, Healthy plants individually rooted in large plugs of compost. Ideal for planting into baskets, containers or small areas in the garden. Best results achieved if grown on for a short while in 9cm/10cm pots prior to planting out if planting straight into garden borders. Tender varieties will need protecting from frost. Compost volume around 4-5cm deep x 3-4cm square. Foliage height 5cm-12cm (depending on variety). Full growing instructions are provided.
These herbs are so easy to grow and as they are perennial, will die down in the winter months and re-appear next spring. Pot them on as for the annual herbs and then plant into pots or the garden.
