Key Features:
Striking Cream and Red Blooms: Tulip Kaufmanniana Johann Strauss boasts elegant cream petals adorned with bold red streaks and a subtle yellow base, creating a stunning and eye-catching display.
Compact and Early Flowering: Growing to a height of approximately 20-25cm (8-10 inches), these tulips are compact and one of the earliest to bloom, brightening your garden from April onwards.
Versatile Planting: Perfect for borders, rock gardens, and containers, these tulips add a touch of elegance and colour wherever they are planted.
Easy to Grow: These tulips are easy to plant and care for, making them an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.
Ideal Planting Location:
Choose a spot with full sun to partial shade. Tulips thrive in well-drained soil and benefit from a location that receives plenty of sunlight.
Planting Depth and Spacing:
Plant the bulbs at a depth of about 10-15cm (4-6 inches) and space them approximately 10-15cm (4-6 inches) apart to allow room for growth and airflow.
Watering Tips:
Water the bulbs thoroughly after planting to help them establish.
Maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging the soil.
Feeding Schedule:
Fertilize your tulips with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at the time of planting and again as the shoots begin to emerge in spring to support healthy growth and blooming.
Maintenance:
Allow the foliage to die back naturally after blooming to help the bulbs store energy for the next growing season.
Remove any spent flowers to prevent seed production and encourage bulb development.
Temperature and Frost Protection:
Tulips are hardy and can tolerate cold temperatures. However, a layer of mulch can provide added protection during severe frost.
