Plant Feeding. The vast majority of gardeners are well aware that plants require feeding to give off their best. To keep them growing healthily, plants absorb through their roots about 30 different nutrients and minerals dissolved in water.
In nature, as leaves fall and plants die, they decompose and return nutrients to the soil, maintaining the natural balance. Clipping, mowing, weeding and tidying removes the plant waste that would naturally rot down, so we are actually depleting the soil of its nutrient reserves. To maintain and grow our garden plants, we need to ensure they're not 'undernourished' and that's where fertilisers come in - they help to keep the soil topped up with nutrients.
Most general fertilisers will contain the three major nutrients, Nitrogen (N), Phosphates (P) and Potassium (K). As a rough guide the higher the nitrogen level compared with others, the more the fertilizer will encourage vigorous growth and foliage development. Where the potassium values are higher the product is designed to encourage flowering and fruiting. With over 100 years experience in manufacturing fertilisers, our range of quality products are ideal for all your gardening needs.
